Introducing Ross Ramsey, MD as President & CEO
SCHEURER BOARD SELECTS ROSS RAMSEY, MD AS ITS NEXT LEADER
The Scheurer Board of Trustees is proud to announce the selection of Ross Ramsey, MD as the next President & CEO of Scheurer Health. Dr. Ramsey has been a practicing physician with Scheurer Health since 2012 and Vice President of Quality & Medical Affairs for the last four years.
Scheurer Board Chairperson, Brian Keim states, “We are very pleased to introduce Dr. Ross Ramsey as Scheurer Health's new President & CEO. He is bright, innovative, and highly respected in his field. Dr. Ramsey is also a Huron County native who takes great pride in serving the people around him. There is a growing trend for practicing physicians to step into top executive roles because of the technical nature of healthcare and the unique understanding of complex systems that a physician can offer. Dr. Ramsey has been preparing himself for this kind of role for several years and we feel extremely fortunate that he will take that step with Scheurer.”

When it came time to choose the next leader of the county’s largest service employer, the Scheurer Board of Trustees looked within its own organization. Terry Lerash, retiring President & CEO explained, “When we have had the level of success for over three straight decades, it’s important to find the right leader who can cultivate and grow the existing culture that Scheurer has become so known for. With the leadership of Dr. Ramsey, Scheurer Health can go from ‘great’ to ‘even better.’ I have had the pleasure to work with Ross for the entire length of my time here at Scheurer and am confident that he will drive our goal forward of providing Better Health and Better Life to everyone in the Thumb.”
Ross Ramsey, MD, a native of Harbor Beach, Michigan attended Michigan State University for his undergraduate studies, as well as medical school, graduating from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine (MSU CHM). He currently is the President of the MSU CHM Alumni Board and was recently honored as the Family Medicine Community Faculty of the Year by the medical school. Dr. Ramsey has been at the forefront of the healthcare industry’s transformation into Accountable Care Organizations (ACO). He is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) and Fellow of American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP).
Ramsey added, “I am excited to step into the role of President & CEO of the area’s leading healthcare organization. Having been born and raised in the Thumb and then practicing in the area for over a decade, I understand the importance of high quality, locally based healthcare. As a healthcare provider, I have witnessed our industry’s transformation firsthand over the last number of years and the impact it has had on our patients. I look forward to ensuring that Scheurer serves the community’s needs while continuing its steadfast focus on people, service and quality.”
As President & CEO, Dr. Ramsey will be on the main campus on a daily basis while also continuing to see patients at Scheurer Primary Care – Elkton. He will begin this new role on December 01, 2022, working closely with Terry Lerash, the outgoing and retiring President & CEO to ensure a smooth transition.
