The Acute Care Unit at Scheurer Hospital features 18 spacious inpatient hospital rooms with a total of 25 beds designed to provide a warm, homelike atmosphere for patients recovering from illness, injury, or surgery through inpatient acute care services. The unit includes 11 large private rooms and seven semiprivate rooms designed to support comfort and recovery during hospitalization. Each hospital bed includes its own television and vital-sign monitoring equipment, and many private rooms offer in-room showers for added comfort and convenience during inpatient care.

Five patient rooms allow close observation with cardiac monitoring capabilities for patients requiring higher levels of acute care monitoring, while three rooms are specifically designed to accommodate orthopedic and surgical patients recovering after procedures. Two additional rooms are equipped with ceiling lifts to support the specialized care needs of bariatric patients during their hospital stay and recovery process.

The Acute Care Unit is equipped with a state-of-the-art nurse call system that allows patients to quickly connect with their nurse when assistance is needed, supporting high-quality inpatient hospital care. Every Acute Care nurse carries a handheld phone connected directly to the nurse call system, allowing immediate communication with patients. This technology helps improve response times to patient needs while also creating a quieter, more comfortable healing environment by reducing call-light alarms during hospitalization.
