Celebrating Veterans Day

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all veterans for their service, bravery and sacrifice this Veterans Day. Today, we also extend a special thanks to the veterans within our organization. We are honored to work alongside you and recognize the exceptional commitment you have shown both in service to our country and in your work here. Thank you for all that you do.

Amanda McSweeney, MD // General Surgery

  • Branch of service? Army
  • Years of service? 1989 - 1998
  • Rank at time of discharge? Captain
  • What was a defining moment during your service? The mobilization of troops during Desert Storm really illustrated the ability of the U.S. to quickly move personnel on a global basis.
  • What message would you like to share for Veterans Day? Veterans Day is a time to reflect on my personal experiences and my career. I would not be a physician if I had not been accepted into the Health Professional Scholarship program in the U.S. Army
  • Do you have any advice for those considering joining the military? Do it!
  • Any additional comments or reflections on your time in service? My time in service, in addition to providing my medical education, gave great insight and respect for all ranks and personnel who make up our Armed Forces. Every person has a job and the combined disciple and action of every person in their individual role is what makes our Armed Forced the greatest in the world.

Matthew Peters, RN // Emergency Department

  • Branch of service? Marine Corps
  • Years of service? 2001 - 2005 and 2007 - 2008
  • Rank at time of discharge? E-5/Sergeant
  • What was a defining moment during your service? My time serving overseas in Iraq left the biggest impact of my total time in service. The sense of brotherhood/comradery, honor, courage, and integrity all are what it is all about and what is missed most being out. The Navy Corpsman from my squad left a big impact on me and is part of the reason I decided to peruse the medical filed once I made it home. The United Sates Marine Corps do not have medical personal within the branch. The United States Navy provide medical care for all Marines all around the world. Navy Corpsman are attached to Marine units and go where we go. They provide frontline care when Marines are wounded. It has been this way since the birth of the United States Marine Corps. We are department of the Navy.
  • What message would you like to share for Veterans Day? I would like to wish all fellow Veterans a Happy Veterans Day!
  • Do you have any advice for those considering joining the military? Anyone that is considering joining the military I would say go for it.
  • Any additional comments or reflections on your time in service? I would also like to wish the United States Marine Corps a Happy Birthday as we turn 249 years old on November 10th 2024. We are the smallest branch with the least amount of personal with hand me down weapons from the United States Army yet we are the most lethal and feared fighting force known around the world. Fighting air, land, and sea. Our motto is "Semper Fidelis" which means always faithful in Latin.

Also, the Commandant of the Marine Corps along with the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps send out a yearly birthday message that can been seen on YouTube if anyone is interested. This is just another unique custom the Marine Corps does yearly for all U.S. Marines to see and celebrate around the world.

Colton Eurich, EMT // Emergency Medical Services

  • Branch of service? Army
  • Years of service? 2013 - Still Active
  • Rank at time of discharge? Staff Sergeant
  • What was a defining moment during your service? The biggest defining moment for myself was watching soldiers that I had trained and mentored for years grow into leaders themselves. No other accomplishment meant more to me than kickstarting a young soldiers career.
  • What message would you like to share for Veterans Day? Thank you to everyone that kept my home and country safe while I was away. Without our citizens here, there would be nothing to fight for over there.
  • Do you have any advice for those considering joining the military? Do your research and learn all you can before signing. Everyone has a reason for joining and I never judge on the reasons. Just make sure it is a reason that is worth the time and sacrifice.
