Dr. Mina Salib // Pain Management

0:00

Pain, whether acute or chronic, can significantly impact a person's quality of life. Dr. Mina Salib, our new pain management doctor at Scheurer, understands this all too well. His expertise and compassionate approach to patient care have allowed him to change many patients' lives to reduce or get rid of pain.

Pain management doctors specialize in diagnosing and treating various types of chronic pain. These doctors use a combination of techniques to alleviate pain and improve the quality of life for their patients.

Dr. Salib's journey to becoming a pain management specialist began in Flint, Michigan, where he completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan - Flint. He then pursued his medical degree at Michigan State University before completing his emergency medicine training in Detroit.

During his emergency medicine residency, Dr. Salib had the opportunity to work with mentors from the Cleveland Clinic who were involved in pain management. This exposure sparked his interest in the field, and he decided to pursue a fellowship in pain management in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was during this training that he honed his skills in interventional pain management, including procedures like knee injections and spinal cord stimulation.

"I love the ER. I love the fast pace of it. But even before the time that I got into emergency medicine, I really had some great mentors at the Cleveland Clinic that were in pain management and they were showing me the advances in pain management, what they did, and you know, I really enjoyed it. I didn't want to give up the ER, and I still do mission work and kind of serve outside of the Michigan area in different countries. And so, having the opportunity to go into a field like pain management, that could follow up with my patients and could see that improvement. That was something that really drew me to that field." -- Mina Salib, MD

As a pain management doctor, Dr. Salib focuses on treating patients with various types of pain, from back and neck pain to sciatica and occipital pain. He emphasizes the importance of taking a holistic approach to pain management, considering not only the physical aspects of pain but also the emotional and psychological impact it can have on patients.

"Knowing that when a patient steps in to our office or steps into the OR that I'm looking at that patient as a family member, a brother, sister, mother, father, grandmother. Kind of treating them just the same way as I treat my family members. And I think that's kind of one of the best ways, I think, to look at our patients." -- Mina Salib, MD

As Dr. Salib's influence continues to resonate with patients, he maintains gratitude for the chance to guide them on their path to pain relief and enhanced well-being. Through his compassionate guidance and innovative care, we are so excited to welcome Dr. Salib to the team here at Scheurer Health.

Dr. Salib is seeing patients inside of Scheurer Specialty Care in the North Wing of the hospital at 170 N. Caseville Rd, Pigeon, MI. Use the main entrance and proceed to the North Wing (previously Long Term Care). A physician referral is required from your primary care provider.
