Harbor Beach Students Spread Positivity // Go Green Mental Health Awareness Walk 💚

A community mental health walk to the beach was hosted by Senior Life Solutions — Scheurer Health and the Huron County Suicide Prevention Coalition on May 07, bringing together students, staff and community partners for an afternoon centered on connection and mental wellness.

K–12 students at Harbor Beach Community Schools walked side-by-side from the school to the beach, passing yard signs filled with uplifting messages along the route. Many students wore green in support of Mental Health Awareness Month, helping bring visibility to the importance of mental wellness and supportive conversations within the community.

The event encouraged students of all ages to connect, support one another and celebrate the importance of mental health in a fun and meaningful way. By pairing younger and older students together, they were able to collaborate, build friendships and enjoy the day as one united school community. The walk created opportunities for students to encourage one another, spend time together outside the classroom and take part in an activity focused on positivity and inclusion.

At the beach, students were given sidewalk chalk to create their own positive messages and colorful doodles along the sidewalks. Inspiring words, cheerful artwork and encouraging reminders quickly filled the area, creating a bright display of kindness and support for others to enjoy.

The event highlighted the importance of connection, positivity and supporting one another — one step and smile at a time. Through simple acts of encouragement and shared experiences, students helped create an atmosphere centered on compassion, belonging and community support.
