Bridge Construction - Nearing Completion!
Great news! The bridge construction just north of our main campus in Pigeon, MI is nearing completion! The bridge project began this spring, closing a major thoroughfare in the area and crews have pushed through all of the rain and weather that 2023 has thrown at them.
Completion is on track for November 03, 2023 but if the weather cooperates, it could be even sooner. According to Erik Tamlyn of the Huron County Road Commission, the project was funded mostly through the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and their local agency bridge program. The N. Caseville Road bridge was competitively selected for funding from 15 counties, all in the Bay Region of Michigan. The Huron County Road Commission also utilized state funding along with local funds for this bridge project.
Although not yet completed, the bridge is expected to be on budget with a final price tag of $2.8 million.
Tamlyn added, "The Huron County Road Commission would like to thank Grand River Construction and their subcontractors who have been diligently working hard to complete this project on time and within budget despite weather delays. Also, thank you to the surrounding property owners, community members, and motorists who have been patient and respectful of the work zone and detour that has been in place since June."
