My Job at Scheurer Health // Tanya Kulinski, Patient Access

When you walk through the doors at Scheurer Health, there’s a good chance the first smile you see belongs to Tanya Kulinski.

As a Patient Access Representative, Tanya plays a vital role in keeping the entire hospital moving. Her department makes sure every area of Scheurer can move forward with what they need to do. From registering patients for outpatient testing like labs, diagnostic imaging, surgical procedures and ER visits, to coordinating rehab appointments and central scheduling, Tanya helps ensure each patient’s visit starts smoothly.

“If you’re going anywhere in the hospital, you’ll likely see us first,” Tanya shares. “It all starts with us.”

Her day begins early — 6:30 a.m. — often registering surgical patients and preparing charts. Throughout the day, she verifies insurance, processes lab drop-offs from offsite physician offices and clinics and answers incoming phone calls, directing them where they need to go. In the afternoons and early evenings, the Walk-In Clinic brings an added wave of activity with lab work and diagnostic imaging needs.

Behind the scenes, Tanya also organizes and verifies orders at the end of each day, ensuring everything is accounted for and ready for the next step in the patient’s care journey. Patient Access Representatives are more than schedulers and registrars — they are the bridge that connects patients to the care they need. Tanya believes having a positive attitude and carrying a conversation can make all the difference.

Scheurer Health’s Patient Access team helps create a welcoming, organized and efficient experience from the very first interaction. Tanya says she enjoys working in a family-oriented, positive environment where coworkers make even long days worthwhile.

As a small hospital with a strong reputation for both employees and patients, Scheurer Health offers an environment where team members feel comfortable, supported and proud of the work they do.

On social media, you’ll find the 60-second version of Tanya’s story. Here on our website, we’re proud to share a closer look at the important role she plays in helping patients begin their care with confidence.
