Scheurer Health Kicks Off Summer // Action-Packed 5th Annual Summer Celebration
The community came together in a big way for Scheurer Health's 5th Annual Summer Celebration, creating an unforgettable evening filled with fun, connection and the official kickoff to summer in Michigan's Thumb.
Event Highlights
Food Trucks, a New Playground and Bounce Houses
With record-breaking attendance, this year's celebration welcomed families, friends and neighbors from across the region to enjoy great food, activities and entertainment on a beautiful summer evening. Guests lined up at local food trucks serving a variety of delicious favorites while children spent the evening jumping in bounce houses and exploring the new playground equipment.
Live Band Performance
The beautiful Michigan weather provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of outdoor fun, with an impressive eight-piece live band. Stone Street Revival rocked the Pigeon Bandshell all night long. Attendees danced and sang along to a variety of favorite hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s.
A Firework Finale
As the sun began to set, guests turned their gaze to Rotary Hill for one of the event's most anticipated traditions. A spectacular fireworks display lit up the night sky, providing a memorable finale to an incredible evening and the start of summer across the Thumb.
Recognizing Outstanding Employees
As part of the celebration, Scheurer Health also recognized several employees for their exceptional contributions and dedication to the organization.
The Dwight Gascho Leadership Award was presented to Matt Kehn, EMS Manager in Emergency Services, in recognition of departmental achievements under his leadership, showing great dedication and commitment to Scheurer Health's mission and values.

The Daisy Award was presented to Cathy Knoblock, RN in Surgical Services. This award honors nurses who demonstrate extraordinary compassion, clinical excellence and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

The Sunshine Award was awarded to Betty Wright, Phlebotomist in the Laboratory at Scheurer Primary Care - Bad Axe. The award recognizes staff members whose positive attitude, service and dedication brighten the experience of patients, families and fellow employees.

Melissa Willingham, Medical Assistant at Scheurer Primary Care – Bad Axe, was named the Scheurer Way Raffle Winner. Employees who volunteer their time throughout the year earn entries into the raffle for a chance to win either a $1,000 grand prize or a designated parking spot for one year.
A Celebration of Community
The Summer Celebration continues to be a highlight of the season, bringing together employees, families and community members to celebrate what makes the Thumb such a special place to live, work and play.
