Benefits

The glute bridge focuses on controlled movement and muscle engagement. This exercise helps:

  • Strengthen the core and lower body
  • Improve hip stability
  • Support the muscles that protect the lower back

In simple terms it builds strength where your body needs it most.

How to Perform the Movement

To begin, lie on a firm flat surface with your knees bent and feet planted. Position your heels as close to your glutes as comfortably possible. Place your hands firmly at your sides and keep your gaze directed upward.

As you inhale, prepare your core. As you exhale, press through your heels and lift your hips toward the ceiling. Pause briefly at the top to fully engage your glutes hamstrings, then lower back down with control.

If the movement feels too easy, resistance can be added using dumbbells, resistance bands or everyday household items such as a jug of water or soup cans.
