Community Relations

Community Relations is here to provide education and support to the community through support groups, programs and outreach.

Ask The Expert
These monthly educational programs are held in the Country Bay Village Dining Room in Pigeon. Get your questions answered by the expert!

Babysitter Training Course
This American Red Cross course prepares youth ages 11 to 14 for the responsibility of babysitting. Course cost is $25. Tentative dates: February 7th, June 18th and November 21st.

Cancer Support Group
As an affiliate of the American Cancer Society, "I Can Cope" meets the first Tuesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the Pine Room. The group focuses on education, camaraderie and compassion. Download the 2015 brochure.

Caregiver Connection
This group provides support for those caring for loved ones. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon in the Wilson Education Center at Scheurer Hospital. Lunch is provided.Dowload the 2015 brochure.

CPR & First Aid
Get certified in American Heart Association CPR with AED training ($20) or First Aid ($20). Classes are offered monthly, or special classes may be scheduled for groups. For a complete schedule and to sign up, please visit the Classes & Events page.

Cheeseburger in Caseville 5k Fun Run
This event is great fun for the whole family. Registration includes a t-shirt. The race is August 15th at 9:00 am at the Caseville County Park.Register here..

Pigeon Sunset Classic 5k Run
This race is a fun way for families to be active. Registration includes a t-shirt. Race is July 10th at 8:00 pm at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care Parking Lot. Register here.

Scheurer Train 5k
Join this 10-week training program and work up to a 5k walk or run. The first 200 participants receive free gifts and registration in the Pigeon Sunset Classic. Registration dates are April 20th - May 1st.

Guest Speakers
Scheurer Hospital will provide a speaker on a variety of medical topics for church or civic organizations. These are available free of charge on request.

Health Fair
Join us for free preventive screenings at the Scheurer Professional Center in Pigeon on June 2nd from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Hospital Tours
These tours introduce preschool and kindergarten students to the hospital and staff. Call to schedule a time that's convenient for your class.

Kids' Safety Day
This free event will be held August 20th at the Caseville Fire Hall from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Bike helmets, make-your-own first aid kits and more!

MS Support Group
The Multiple Sclerosis support group meets bi-annually and focuses on education and support. A free dinner is provided.

After-School Programs
Working in conjunction with local schools, Community Relations sponsors an after-school program to help kids learn about healthy lifestyles and food choices.

Scheurer Fit Challenge
A 12-week fitness challenge to help individuals (working in teams of six) to move toward their personal weight loss and physical activity goals. Kick-off starts January 5th.

Scheurer Shape Up
An 8-week program focused on strength training and toning. Initial assessments begin August 24th.

Relay for Life
Join the Scheurer Hospital Relay for Life team. This family-friendly event occurs June 27th to 28th at Bad Axe City Park. Come and visit that day, or join the team to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Senior Programs
These programs are designed to celebrate growing older and provide helpful resources to older adults and their families. Held on Tuesdays in April at 2:00 pm at Country Bay Village.

Free Senior Health Expo
Seniors 60 and older are invited to join us at the Huron Community Fair for a free health expo on July 29th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm The expo features health screenings, freebies and more. Enjoy a free chicken dinner from 5:00 to 6:30 pm.

Think First
Third graders learn brain and spinal cord injury prevention in this six-week school-based program. Participants receive a free bike helmet.

Women's Health Expo
Women of all ages are welcome to visit the tent at the Caseville County Park on August 19th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Enjoy great health information, screenings and freebies.
