Community Relations

Community Relations is here to provide education and support to the community through support groups, programs and outreach. Scheurer recently partnered with Caseville Schools to provide a health and safety fair for K-12 students. It was a great day of learning and fun. Click here to watch the video.

Babysitter Training Course
This American Red Cross course prepares youth ages 11 to 14 for the responsibility of babysitting. Course cost is $25. Tentative dates: February 15th, June 22nd and November 15th.

Cancer Support Group
As an affiliate of the American Cancer Society, "I Can Cope" meets the first Tuesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:00 pm in the Wilson Education Center at Scheurer Hospital. The group focuses on education, camaraderie and compassion. Download the 2016 brochure.

Caregiver Connection
This group provides support for those caring for loved ones. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon in the Wilson Education Center at Scheurer Hospital. Lunch is provided. Dowload the 2016 brochure.

CPR & First Aid
Get certified in American Heart Association CPR with AED training ($20) or First Aid ($20). Classes are offered monthly, or special classes may be scheduled for groups. For a complete schedule and to sign up, please visit the Classes & Events page.

Cheeseburger in Caseville 5k Fun Run
This event is great fun for the whole family. Registration includes a t-shirt. The race is August 13th at 9:00 am at the Caseville County Park.Click here to see 2016 race results.

Pigeon Sunset Classic 5k Run
This race is a fun way for families to be active. Registration includes a t-shirt. Race is July 21st at 8:00 pm at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care Parking Lot.Click here to see 2016 race results.

Goal to Stroll
Join this 8-week training program and work up to a mile-long walk. Participants receive a pedometer, walking log and prizes. Registration dates are April 18th - 29th.

Guest Speakers
Scheurer Hospital will provide a speaker on a variety of medical topics for church or civic organizations. These are available free of charge on request.

Health Fair
Join us for free preventive screenings at the Scheurer Professional Center in Pigeon on May 24th from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Hospital Tours
These tours introduce preschool and kindergarten students to the hospital and staff. Call to schedule a time that's convenient for your class.

Kids' Safety Day
This free event will be held August 18th at the Caseville Fire Hall from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Bike helmets, make-your-own first aid kits and more!

Mental Health Matters
These monthly educational programs are held in the Wilson Education Center at Scheurer Hospital. Join us and get your questions answered by the expert!

MS Support Group
The Multiple Sclerosis support group meets bi-annually and focuses on education and support. A free dinner is provided.

After-School Programs
Working in conjunction with local schools, Community Relations sponsors an after-school program to help kids learn about healthy lifestyles and food choices.

Scheurer Fit Challenge
A 12-week fitness challenge to help individuals (working in teams of six) to move toward their personal weight loss and physical activity goals. Kick-off starts January 4th.

Scheurer Shape Up
An 8-week program focused on strength training and toning. Initial assessments begin August 29th.

Relay for Life
Join the Scheurer Hospital Relay for Life team. This family-friendly event occurs June 25th to 26th at Bad Axe City Park. Come and visit that day, or join the team to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Senior Programs
These programs are designed to celebrate growing older and provide helpful resources to older adults and their families. Held on Tuesdays in April at 2:00 pm at Country Bay Village.

Day Sponsor at Huron Community Fair
Join us July 27th at the Huron County Fairgrounds. There will be something for everyone! Watch for complete details in July.

Think First
Third graders learn brain and spinal cord injury prevention in this six-week school-based program. Participants receive a free bike helmet.

Women's Health Expo
Women of all ages are welcome to visit the tent at the Caseville County Park on August 17th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Enjoy great health information, screenings and freebies.
